The Jar Chair is a year-long solution to a five-minute idea.
The birth of Johnny's two sons and the subsequent preciousness of baby food jars, created the idea to incorporate them into the series of furniture pieces created with circles and coins. The structural challenge proved arduous.
The common fear that "I'm not going to sit on glass," erodes into tentative acceptance of the obvious chair shape. After the "leap of faith," and subsequent relaxation when the sitter realizes the glass is NOT going to break, the result is often an unabashed admission of joy that the chair offers not only a secure and comfortable position, but also a texture that contradicts the anxiety-inducing material with a pleasant massage!
Utilizing 96 jars and more than 400 pieces of hardware, the chair stands 14.5"W x 25.5"D x 40.5"H
